Gen. Raheel Sharif appointed as new chief of Pakistan Army

ISLAMABAD – New Chief of Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif has an impressive track record of service, PakistanTribe reported on Wednesday.

Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif is on a third in seniority list.

He was the part of 6th Frontier Force Regiment, an infantry force of Pakistan Army.

Lieutenant Raheel Sharif is a brother of Nishan-e-Haider fame Shabbir Shareef Shaheed.

The post of army chief is arguably the most powerful in Pakistan. General Sharif succeeds General Ashfaq Kayani, who steps down on Friday after six years in the top post.

 

Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif was working as a Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to Gen Kayani Inspector General Training and Evaluation (IGT&E).
